Studio 4K/SE 12X - v8.3.32Studio 4K/SE 20X - v8.3.32

New Features

Video, Streaming, and Image Enhancements

  • NDI 6.3 Upgrade: Updated NDI support from NDI 5 to NDI 6.3 for improved compatibility and access to the latest NDI protocol updates.

  • NDI On / Off Control: Added an NDI On / Off option to the NDI Settings page in the Web UI, allowing users to enable or disable NDI directly from the camera interface.

  • RTSP Stream Info Display: RTSP stream settings are now visible in the Web UI and can be copied directly for easier integration with external software.

  • Increased SRT Password Length: Expanded the supported SRT password length to 10-79 characters, aligning with SRT standards and improving compatibility with SRT-based workflows.

  • NTP Timestamp Overlay: Users can now enable an NTP Timestamp Overlay within the Network Settings section of the Web UI. Placement options allow the overlay to be positioned at the top or bottom of the screen and aligned left, center, or right.

  • One Push Exposure Custom Button Option: Added One Push Exposure as an available option when assigning Custom Button functions.

  • Increased Kelvin Scale Precision: Enhanced White Balance control in VAR mode by allowing finer Kelvin temperature adjustments.

  • Snapshot Stream Selection: Added support for retrieving snapshots from either stream source, providing users with the option to capture higher-resolution still images while maintaining uninterrupted video performance.

Preset and Camera Control Enhancements

  • Smart Presets: Added the ability to save and recall presets with all current image and positional settings or recall position-only settings, providing greater flexibility when configuring preset behavior.

  • NDI Absolute Positioning: Added compatibility with third-party software using NDI Absolute Position commands when working with EPTZ and Super Zoom functionality. Note: Super Zoom is only available on 4K models.

  • VISCA Tally Command Support: Added support for Sony VISCA-compatible tally commands, allowing external control systems to manage tally light behavior. Tally Light Control Commands:

    • Preview Green: 8x 01 7E 04 1A 00 0p FF
    • Program Red: 8x 01 7E 01 0A 00 0p FF
    • p: 0 = off, 1 = flash, 2 = on

API Additions

  • Preset Inquiry: Added a Preset Inquiry function that allows users and external systems to retrieve or confirm the absolute pan, tilt, zoom, and focus coordinates stored for a specific preset without recalling it. Note: Super Zoom is only available on 4K models.

EPTZ Enabled with Super Zoom:

GET /api/v1/info/preset/1

Example: GET http://192.168.100.88/api/v1/info/preset/1
Returns:
{
"eptz": {
"exist": true,
"height": "1080",
"startX": 1680,
"startY": 156,
"width": 1920
},
"exist": true,
"focusPos": 4073,
"panPos": -1,
"tiltPos": -1,
"zoomPos": 1025
}

EPTZ Disabled:

GET /api/v1/info/preset/1

Example: GET http://192.168.100.88/api/v1/info/preset/1
Returns:
{
"eptz": {
"exist": false,
},
"exist": true,
"focusPos": 3840,
"panPos": -1,
"tiltPos": -1,
"zoomPos": 1435
}

  • HTTP Movement Status Query: Added a status command that allows users and integrations to determine whether the camera is currently moving, improving automation feedback and system monitoring.
GET /api/v1/info/is-moving

Example: GET http://192.168.100.88/api/v1/info/is-moving
Returns:
{
"isMoving": false
}

  • Preset Recall Completion Confirmation: Added a completion response when recalling a preset. When a preset recall command is issued, the camera completes the movement to the stored position before returning a success response.

UI and System Changes

  • ONVIF Authentication Default Enabled: ONVIF authentication is now enabled by default to align with updated security protocols and ensure the ONVIF route is protected out of the box.

  • Audio Output Label Updated: Updated the Audio & Video Settings page in the Web UI so the setting previously labeled Audio Out is now labeled Line Out.

  • Device Info Button Change: The Community.ptzoptics.com button in the Device Info section has been replaced with a Need Help? button linking users to the same PTZOptics community support resource.

Bug Fixes

  • RTMP Startup Behavior: Resolved an issue where RTMP video could begin broadcasting during the camera startup and initialization process. RTMP streaming now waits until initialization is complete before beginning output.

  • Bitrate Display Mismatch: Fixed an issue where the Web UI bitrate field could visually reset to the default value after changes were made, even though the camera correctly applied the selected bitrate.

  • NTP Address Entry Limitation: Resolved an issue where string-based NTP server addresses containing certain special characters could fail to apply through the Web UI.

  • Safari Profile Upload File Picker: Fixed an issue where the file picker would not open when attempting to upload a profile through the camera Web UI in Safari.

  • Network Reset Behavior: Corrected Network Reset behavior so related settings properly return to their intended defaults after a reset. This includes Static Fallback IP, Gateway, Netmask, NTP configuration options, and network port settings.

  • IR Remote Warning Message: Corrected an improperly labeled IR remote warning message in the Web UI.

  • Corrected an issue that prevented the Studio 4K/SE from working with Blackmagic hardware at 1080p59.94 over SDI.

Security

  • Firmware updates now require authentication using the camera’s login credentials. This helps prevent unauthorized users from uploading firmware to the camera.

Known Issues

  1. Zoom Mode Reset After Updating from v8.2.31
    When updating from the current production firmware, v8.2.31, to v8.3.25, the camera’s Zoom Mode will revert to Optical. Users previously using Super Zoom will need to reselect that mode after the update. This setting is expected to remain preserved when updating from v8.3.25 to future firmware versions.

  2. VAR White Balance Color Temperature Field May Appear Blank After Update
    After updating from v8.2.31 to v8.3.25, selecting VAR as the White Balance mode may initially show a blank Color Temperature field. Users can still select and apply a color temperature value normally. After rebooting the camera once following the update, the Color Temperature field will display the expected value when VAR mode is selected.

  3. Some Camera Settings May Revert to Defaults After Updating from v8.2.31
    Some user-configured camera settings may return to their default values when updating from v8.2.31 to v8.3.25 and will need to be reapplied. Presets that include image settings are not affected. This behavior is expected to be resolved for updates from v8.3.25 to future firmware versions.

  4. Camera Time Server / Time Zone Behavior
    Camera time server and time zone handling are still being further investigated. In some cases, time behavior may not fully align with the expected regional time configuration. Further optimization and fixes are planned for a future firmware update.

  5. NTP Overlay options may remain greyed out and unavailable after disabling and re-enabling NTP Time Sync. As a workaround, reboot the camera after re-enabling NTP Time Sync to restore access to the Overlay options.
