Auto-tracking Settings

The available settings will change depending on the selected automation mode. Figure 1 shows the options available in Auto-tracking mode.

Bounding Box:

The bounding box indicates what subject is being auto-tracked and the mode determines the parameters for auto-tracking.

There are four options in the Bounding Box drop-down tab:

  • Off: No bounding box will be displayed.
  • Select Target: A green bounding box will appear momentarily around a new target.
  • Multi-target: A green bounding box will appear around all targets in view. A red bounding box will appear around the target currently selected to be tracked. The Multi-Target bounding boxes only appear in the web interface.
  • Debug: Debug will display a bounding box over all targets in view while tracking is enabled. This is often used to troubleshoot the scene to remove false-positives.

Tracking Composition:

This determines the where the subject will be captured in the video frame during tracking.

  • Options Include:
    • Left: The subject will be tracked on the left side of the video frame.
    • Right: The subject will be tracked on the right side of the video frame.
    • Center: The subject will be tracked in the center of the video frame.

Tracking Zoom Level:

This drop-down tab lets you set the distance for auto-tracking.

There are four options:

  • Dynamic: Gives you manual control of the zoom distance while tracking.
  • Medium Close Up: Maintains a constant frame of the subject's head to shoulders
  • Medium Shot: Maintains a constant frame of the subject's head to waist.
  • Long Shot: Maintains a constant frame of the subject from head to feet.

Time Delay:

This drop-down tab lets you set a predetermined amount of time to pass before the camera will begin tracking a moving subject, ranging from "0" to "60" seconds.

This feature can be toggled "On" or "Off". While off, the camera will start tracking as soon as it detects movement.

Tracking Start Location:

Sets the location from which the camera will begin tracking when auto-tracking is enabled.

You can begin tracking from the "Home Position", from any preset you choose, or select "Track Now", to allow the camera to start tracking from it's current position.

Tracking Stop Location:

Sets the location or point at which the camera will return to when auto-tracking is disabled.

This can be set to return to the "Home Position" and preset you choose, or "Track Now". If set to "Track Now" The camera will stop moving where it lost the subject.

Target Timeout:

Lets you set a time limit ranging from "0" to "60" seconds before the camera will move to the "Target Loss Preset".

Target Loss Preset:

Sets the location the camera will return upon losing a tracking subject.

This can be set to the "Home Position", any preset you choose, or to "Track Now".

Auto-framing Settings

The second automation mode, Auto-framing, lets the camera automatically adjust the size of the frame according to subjects within it's field of view.

For example, if two people are on the right side of a stage, and a third enters to stand on the left side of the stage, the camera will automatically zoom out and reorient itself so that all three people are in the shot.

The auto-framing settings can be seen in the image below:
