Getting Started

System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.15 or later, Ubuntu 22.04 or later
  • Network: The machine running Fleet Manager and your PTZOptics cameras must reside on the same local network subnet
  • Permissions: Administrator access may be required depending on your firewall and network configuration
tip

For the most reliable device discovery, ensure the machine running Fleet Manager is connected to the same network switch or VLAN as your PTZOptics cameras. Devices on isolated network segments may not be discovered automatically.

Installation

  1. Download the latest version of PTZOptics Fleet Manager for your operating system from the PTZOptics Applications page.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation:
    • Windows: Run the downloaded .exe installer.
    • macOS: Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag PTZOptics Fleet Manager to your Applications folder.
    • Linux: Install the downloaded .deb package using your package manager (e.g., sudo dpkg -i <filename>.deb).
  3. Once installation is complete, launch PTZOptics Fleet Manager:
    • Windows: From the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
    • macOS: From the Applications folder or Launchpad.
    • Linux: From your application menu or by running ptzoptics-fleet-manager in a terminal.

First Launch

When Fleet Manager opens, it immediately begins scanning your local network for accessible devices. A "Searching for cameras" status indicator will appear in the bottom-left corner of the application window while discovery is in progress.

Devices found on the network will populate the dashboard table automatically. Depending on your network size and configuration, initial discovery may take several seconds. The application will continue scanning in the background as long as it is running, so newly connected devices will appear without requiring a manual refresh.

info

Fleet Manager can detect devices from manufacturers other than PTZOptics on your network. However, certain data fields — including Firmware version and MAC Address — may display as unavailable for non-PTZOptics devices.

Authenticating Your Cameras

Cameras that require a login will appear with a locked padlock icon in the Auth column. To authenticate all cameras at once using a shared password:

  1. Click the Universal Auth button (padlock with gear icon) in the top-right toolbar.
  2. Enter the Username for your cameras. The factory default is admin.
  3. Enter the Password in the password field.
  4. Click Login.

Fleet Manager will attempt to authenticate against all discovered devices simultaneously using the provided credentials. Successfully authenticated cameras will update their Auth status to an unlocked state.

note

If cameras on your network use different individual passwords, they will need to be authenticated separately by clicking the padlock icon next to each device. Universal Auth is only effective when all cameras share the same credentials.

Next Steps

With your cameras discovered and authenticated, you are ready to use the full capabilities of Fleet Manager. See the Dashboard page for a complete reference to the device table, toolbar actions, filtering, firmware management, and application settings.
