Connect Via SDI
This guide covers setting up the Move 4K with 3G-SDI video output. Use this for long cable runs (up to 100m) in professional/broadcast environments.
- SDI cable (75-ohm BNC)
- 12V DC power supply (included) or PoE+ switch/injector
- A video switcher, capture card, or monitor with SDI input
- Optional: Ethernet cable for network control
Step 1: Connect the 3G-SDI Cableβ
- Connect a 75-ohm 3G-SDI cable (BNC) from the camera's SDI output to your video switcher, capture card, or monitor's SDI input.
Standard composite or component BNC cables will not carry an SDI signal reliably. Use a 3G 75-ohm-rated cable.
Step 2: Power the Cameraβ
Choose one of the following power methods:
Option A: 12V DC Power Supplyβ
- Connect the included 12V DC power supply to the camera's DC input.
- Plug the power supply into a standard wall outlet.
Option B: Power over Ethernet (PoE+)β
- Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE+ (802.3at) switch or PoE+ injector to the camera's LAN port.
- The camera will power on automatically.
Ensure your switch or injector supports PoE+ (802.3at), not just PoE (802.3af).
Step 3: Wait for the Camera to Bootβ
Once powered, the camera performs a startup sequence:
Step 4: Control the Cameraβ
With SDI, the camera is likely distant from your control area. Use one of these control methods:
Option A: IR Remote (Simplest)β
Use the included IR remote to pan, tilt, zoom, and save presets. Point the remote at the camera's front sensor.

Option B: Network Control (Recommended)β
If you also connected an Ethernet cable to the camera's LAN port:
- Open a browser and go to
http://ptzoptics.local/ - Log in with username admin and set a password.
- Use the Horizon web interface for full PTZ control, image settings, and preset management.
Use HDMI for video output to your display, and Ethernet for network control. This gives you the quality of HDMI with the convenience of web-based control.
Option C: Serial VISCA Control (RS232 & RS485)β
Connect a serial cable from your controller or joystick (such as the PTZOptics SuperJoy) to the camera's Serial Input port.

Step 5: Save Your First Presetβ
Using the Web Interfaceβ
- Move the camera to your desired position.
- Click Set in the Preset Control section.
- Enter a preset number and press Enter.
Using a PTZ Joystick (SuperJoy)β
- Move the camera to your desired position.
- Press the Preset button on the joystick.
- Enter the preset number and confirm.
A preset saves both the camera position and all image settings. Calling a preset restores both.
Using the IR Remoteβ
Press [PRESET] then a number (e.g., [1]) to save. To recall: press the number again. For more information on using the IR remote, see the Using the IR Remote section.

The Move 4K's SDI output is limited to 1080p. If you need 4K, use HDMI, USB, or IP/Network streaming instead.
