Multi-Camera Setup

Voice Tracking supports controlling multiple PTZOptics cameras simultaneously. Each zone on the map can be assigned to a different camera and preset, allowing a single microphone system to drive an entire multi-camera production automatically.

Cameras are managed through the Camera Search menu, accessible from the Voice Tracking toolbar.

Click the Camera Search button (camera icon) in the Voice Tracking toolbar. The Camera Search menu will open and automatically scan for cameras on your local network.

The Camera List

voice tracking camera list

The menu displays a table of cameras discovered on your network:

ColumnDescription
CheckboxSelect this camera to add it to your Voice Tracking camera list.
Camera NameThe camera's configured name (e.g., "Move 4K 20X").
IP AddressThe camera's IP address on the local network.
Auth (Username / Password)Credentials used to authenticate with the camera.
Padlock IconAuthentication status: unlocked = authenticated, locked = not yet authenticated.

Discovering Cameras

When the Camera Search menu opens, Voice Tracking scans the local network and populates the table with any PTZOptics cameras it discovers. Cameras that respond to the discovery broadcast appear within a few seconds.

If a camera does not appear automatically:

  • Verify the camera is powered on and connected to the same network.
  • Check that network discovery is not blocked by a firewall or VLAN.
  • Use Manually Add Camera (see below).

Authenticating Cameras

Before a camera can be assigned to a zone, it must be authenticated. Two methods are available:

Verify

The Verify button is used to authenticate individual cameras.

  1. Click Verify in the Camera Search menu.
  2. Enter the username and password (default: admin / user defined).
  3. Click Login.
  4. Cameras that authenticate successfully will show an unlocked padlock icon.
  5. Cameras that fail (wrong credentials or unreachable) will remain locked.
tip

Enter the credentials for each camera, then click the Verify button to authenticate them all at once. Cameras with correct credentials will unlock simultaneously. Cameras with incorrect credentials will remain locked, allowing you to identify which ones need attention.

Individual Authentication

For cameras with unique credentials:

  1. Enter the username and password in the fields next to that camera's row.
  2. The camera will authenticate individually when credentials are provided.
  3. Confirm the padlock icon changes to unlocked and the message says, "Camera is unlocked!".

Adding Cameras to Your Configuration

Once cameras are authenticated:

  1. Check the checkbox next to each camera you want to use.
  2. Click Confirm or close the menu.
  3. Selected cameras are now available in the zone assignment dropdowns.

Manually Adding a Camera

If a camera is not discovered automatically (different subnet, discovery disabled, etc.):

  1. Click Manually Add Camera in the Camera Search menu.
  2. Enter the camera's IP address.
  3. Enter the camera's username and password.
  4. Click Add.

The camera will appear in the list and authenticate immediately.

note

Manually added cameras persist across Voice Tracking sessions. They will appear in the camera list the next time you open Camera Search.

Removing a Manually Added Camera

  1. Open the Camera Search menu.
  2. Select the manually added camera.
  3. Click Remove Manually Added Camera.
Zone Assignments

If the removed camera is currently assigned to one or more zones, those zone assignments will be cleared. Re-assign the affected zones after removing the camera.

Assigning Cameras to Zones

Once cameras are added and authenticated, assign them to zones on the zone map:

  1. Close the Camera Search menu.
  2. Click the header (name label) of any zone.
  3. A popover appears with dropdowns:
    • Camera: Select from your authenticated camera list
    • Preset: Select a saved preset position for that camera
    • Switcher Source: (If switcher connected) Select the input/scene number
  4. The zone label turns green once a camera and preset are assigned.

Repeat for every zone you want to track. Unassigned zones (white label) will be ignored.

Tips for Multi-Camera Deployments
  • Test Before Going Live

After assigning all zones, speak in each zone while watching the zone map. Verify that:

  • The correct zone activates (glows green)
  • The correct camera moves to the right preset
  • (If using a switcher) The correct source is cut to
Camera Limit

There is no hard limit on the number of cameras you can add to Voice Tracking. Each camera must be reachable on the local network and authenticated before it can be assigned to a zone.
